The Buhari-Yemi Osinbajo Nationwide Supporters Group has publicly apologized to Nigerians for “blindly supporting” the All Progressives Congress (APC) and electing an administration that has caused “so much anguish” for the country.
The group, with a membership of 9,313,846, has decided to decamp to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and work towards the success of the Atiku-Okowa Presidential ticket. At a press briefing in Abuja, the National Coordinator of the Support Group, Hon Danjuma Fachiwe Gwoza, announced that the group will embark on a continuous train-the-trainers Voters’ Education Program to enhance the electoral fortune of the Atiku-Okowa campaign. Similarly, the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) has endorsed Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, for the presidential election.
The group expressed their support for the Atiku-Okowa ticket because of their positive disposition toward local government autonomy in the country.
They also endorsed the PDP Governorship Candidate and Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Chief Sheriff Oborevwori. NULGE’s National President, Ambali Olatunji, announced the endorsement on behalf of the workers during the NULGE Week in Asaba.
The NULGE chairman in Delta State, Ezeko Okwudi, commended Governor Okowa for his contributions to workers’ welfare and presented him with an Excellent Service Award as “Best Workers’ Friendly Governor in Nigeria”. Governor Okowa called on Nigerians to support the Atiku-Okowa ticket, stating that the revenue allocation formula would be amended to give more funds to the states and local governments to provide more services to the people.
