In a bid to ensure peace and security during the ongoing presidential election, heavy armed military personnel have taken over the polling unit of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) presidential candidate, Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. This follows a crisis that erupted between his supporters and the All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters.

According to reports, Kwankwaso’s supporters were seen chasing away suspected APC members whom they alleged were there to create tension. This led to a tense atmosphere that prompted the intervention of the military to restore order.

As of the time of this report, all three corners of the polling unit were being manned by armed military personnel to ensure that the situation remains under control.

This development has caused anxiety among voters in the area, as they fear that the tension between the two parties could escalate into violence. The authorities have, however, assured the public of their commitment to ensuring a peaceful and credible election.
