Niger Delta Liberation Movement (NDLM) has officially endorsed Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the All Progressive Congress (APC) Presidential candidate for the upcoming Presidential election on February 25th. The decision was made at a crucial meeting held in Egbema, Delta State, where the group vowed to remove any obstacle that may hinder Tinubu’s victory.
Commander Amabiri Andabiri, the Spokesperson of NDLM, spoke on behalf of the group during a press conference at the end of the meeting. He disclosed that the Niger Delta Liberation Movement has over one million registered members of Niger Delta youths who are in support of Tinubu’s candidacy.
NDLM is regarded as the most dreaded militant group in Niger Delta and the watch dog of Niger Delta. After the amnesty programme in 2009, when the defunct Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND) and other ex-militant groups abandoned the cause of Niger Delta, NDLM remained on the ground safeguarding the length and breadth of the region.
According to Commander Andabiri, Tinubu is the most qualified candidate to lead the country as he has the ability to replicate what he has done in Lagos in the country. He believes that Tinubu will be able to govern the country effectively because of his antecedents and experience as a two-time Governor of Lagos state.
Furthermore, Tinubu is a Niger Delta Inlaw from Ayakoromor Community in Delta state. Andabiri noted that Tinubu’s family ties to the Niger Delta make him a brother and a sister to the group. He revealed that Tinubu’s elder brother is married to an Ijaw woman from Ayakoromor, while his son Seyi Tinubu married an Igbo woman from the South East.
The NDLM is confident that Tinubu has the capacity and people around him to become a good president. They have promised to mobilize millions of supporters to vote for Tinubu in the upcoming Presidential election. They are also in talks with ex-MEND and other top militant groups to come together to work for Tinubu’s victory. The NDLM has made it clear that they will clear any obstacle that may hinder Tinubu’s victory on February 25th.
