In what appears to be an early sign of the outcome of the 2023 presidential election, the candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi, has won his polling unit in Lagos State.

According to the results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Obi won the polling unit O55 Keke Abimbola, Ago, Lagos State, with 122 votes. The candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu, came a distant second with 9 votes, while the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, got zero votes. The Zenith Labour Party, ZLP, got three votes.

Meanwhile, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, intercepted a woman identified as Maryam Mamman Alhaji, with 18 Permanent Voter’s Cards, PVCs, in her possession, in the Badarwa area, Kaduna state on Saturday. The anti-graft agency revealed this via its Twitter page on Saturday, adding that the woman was a member of a leading political party.

The EFCC, in a statement, warned that anyone caught in possession of PVCs other than theirs during the election would be prosecuted. The statement further urged Nigerians to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity around the election to the appropriate authorities.

The presidential election is slated to hold on February 23, 2023, and the stakes are high, with many Nigerians hoping for a free and fair election that would produce credible leaders who would steer the country toward progress and development.
