The immediate past Osun Commissioner for Works and Transport, Engineer Remi Omowaiye, has disputed Governor Ademola Adeleke’s claim that the Osun State government abandoned the Osogbo-Ikirun-Ila Odo Kwara State Boundary road.
Omowaiye stated that while the previous administration, led by Governor Rauf Aregbesola, completed 10 km of the road, the Oyetola administration completed 10.5 km of the project, leaving only the final layer of asphalt to be applied. He emphasized that a 10 km road couldn’t be completed in just one month, as claimed by Adeleke.
Omowaiye further explained that the Oyetola administration had completed significant work on the road, including earthwork, hydraulics, stabilization using boulders, and the binder course.
He added that the administration had also made several payments to the contractor and had supervised the project on several occasions, as evidenced by photographs.
Omowaiye noted that the Honourable Minister for Works (State) had visited the site during the construction under the Oyetola administration.
Omowaiye described Adeleke’s claim as a “blatant lie” and a “pure lie” and emphasized that the Oyetola administration had not abandoned the project.
