The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University, Oye Ekiti, Prof. Abayomi Fasina, has advised the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to consider approving autonomy for federal universities when he gets into office.
According to Fasina, autonomy for federal varsities will bring lecturers’ strikes to an end and sanitise the university system.
The VC, who spoke at Oye Ekiti on Wednesday during the fourth matriculation ceremony for fresh post-graduate students of FUOYE, noted that incessant strikes was one of the problems hampering tertiary education in Nigeria.
Fasina said, “I want to appeal to our incoming president, Senator Bola Tinubu, to approve university autonomy, which will put an end to the incessant strikes that always affect the academic calendar of the tertiary institutions.”
