Enyimba goalkeeper and member of the Nigerian national football team, John Noble, has revealed that he will not be reporting the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to FIFA despite not receiving his $25,000 2021 AFCON bonus. Noble, who is the only member of the AFCON 2021 squad yet to be paid, expressed his frustration with the NFF’s failure to fulfill their promises, stating that he has been begging for over a year to receive his unpaid bonus.
Despite being tempted to report the NFF to FIFA, Noble stated that he did not want to do anything that would tarnish the image of his country. He expressed disappointment upon hearing that some other players and officials of the national teams have been paid lately while his payment is still pending.
The NFF’s Director of Media and Communications, Ademola Olajire, confirmed last year that Noble would soon be paid, with banking procedures that delayed the payment having been resolved. Olajire also dismissed reports that the NFF had banned Noble from the national team after he went to the media to voice his claims.
Noble was part of the Super Eagles squad for the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon, where Nigeria crashed out in the knockout stage against Tunisia.
