Suleiman Mohammed, a 22-year-old bus driver, was given a six-month prison term on Tuesday by an Area Court in Jos for illegally possessing two knives.

After Mohammed entered a guilty plea, the judge, Mr. Thomas Ajitse, sentenced him for possessing dangerous weapons.

Additionally, Ajitse offered the convict the chance to pay a N50,000 fine.

A police patrol team from the Railway Division Police Station in Jos arrested the defendant on February 23 during a stop-and-search, according to earlier testimony from the prosecution’s attorney, Insp. Ibrahim Gokwat.

According to Gokwat, the prisoner was carrying two knives.

According to the police prosecutor, the offense was against the Plateau Penal Code Law of Northern Nigeria.
