Says his passion to develop education propelled his application

The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji, Dr Ademola Iyanda Ebeloku has stated that his passion to develop the technical education in Nigeria motivated him to apply for the position of the Rector.

Dr Ebeloku said this on Thursday as his inauguration as the second substantive Rector of the institution. He succeeded Professor Emmanuel Adedayo Fasakin.

Ebeloku was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari earlier this month, emerging as the best among 15 shortlisted candidates.

Addressing the staff, students and guests present, Ebeloku said his five-year tenure as Rector of the institution will herald transformation and also oversee improved welfare for all staff and students.

He said, “I would like to dwell more on the basis upon which I aspired to be the Rector of this noble institution for the next five years by the special grace of God. My quest for the position of rector was primarily driven by my desire to improve the academic and moral standard of our technical schools and what better platform do I have than to be in such a progressive and dynamic institution like Federal Polytechnic Ile-Oluji, Ondo State.

“This institution is of particular importance because it was just established eight years ago and this creates a platform upon which her foundation can be properly built to make it the best polytechnic in this country in the next 5 years.”

Speaking on the challenges ahead and his plans to surmount it, the former Dean of School of Management, Federal Polytechnic, Offa, said, “I am not unaware of some of the challenges being faced by this institution ranging from staff welfare, staff unpaid salaries, mounting of new academic programmes, accreditation challenges, inion agitations, infrastructural deficiencies and a host of others, but I want to assure you that with the God on our sides, all issues will be looked into and resolved amicably.”

The New Rector also promised all the unions that his tenure will collaboration not colliding with them.

“To all the unions, I promise to make you useless as you will have nothing to agitate on. Your welfarism shall be the topmost agenda of my tenure. I also task you to make your position paper available as soon as possible.”
