Exiled Ukrainians, along with lawyers from around the world, are joining forces to file a lawsuit against Wagner, the Russian private military company, as a terrorist organization. Led by UK-based law firm, McCue Jury and Partners, the class-action lawsuit alleges that Wagner has committed acts of terrorism against the people of Ukraine and is engaged in an unlawful conspiracy with the Russian Federation.
Jason McCue, the senior partner of the law firm, has established the Ukraine Justice Alliance, a global coalition of legal firms aimed at bringing Wagner to court. The alliance is being supported by the Ukraine Civil Society Lawfare Programme, which is providing evidence to the legal team. To date, the alliance has spent $20 million on the case.
This legal action is part of a broader effort by Ukrainians to hold Wagner accountable for their actions in the country. The private military company has been implicated in numerous conflicts, including the ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine. The lawsuit seeks to establish that Wagner is a terrorist organization and to hold the company responsible for its actions.
