It was the turn of the Ilobu community to witness the commisioning of micro projects facilitated by the Osun State Community and Social Development Agency, CSDA, under the Osun Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus.
The Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi led other top government functionaries to the commisioning on Wednesday. Four borehole projects fully reticulated were commissioned in the community.
While addressing the residents of Ilobu, General Manager of the Osun CSDA, Mrs Funmi Abokede lauded Governor Ademola Adeleke for prioritizing delivery of portable water to the nooks and crannies of the state.
Abokede said, “The administration of His Excellency, Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke is very keen in improving the quality of life of Osun citizens and in-fact one of the development Agenda of Mr Governor is infrastructure development; hence the provision of 4 boreholes at Ire-akari, Orioke Gbobamu, Pako and Bara communities respectively in llobu.
“This is an intervention to accelerate access to portable water. It is worthwhile to know that there is Community Project Management Committee (CPMC) in order to ensure proper use of the water and ensure maintenance of the boreholes that we expect will continue to provide adequate amount of safe water through all seasons of the year.
“It is very important that clean water must be made available, as this will create truly hygienic setting for our people” she said.
While commissioning the water projects, the Deputy Governor reiterated that he will continue to speak to citizens of the state from his heart and demonstrate in actions.
He also said that he will ensure that he delivers his electioneering promises to the people of the state without unnecessary propaganda.
Adewusi emphasized the need for the beneficiaries of the projects to seriously see to the issues of maintenance and sustainability.
“Water is the driving force of all nature; nothing can survive or be produced without water. That is to say, if there is any magic on this planet, it is contained in Water. When streams, rivers and wells dry, then, we know the importance of water.” Adewusi said.
“It then behoves on any serious government to take the issue of provision of water as an important aspect of good governance. When water supplies are improved and made sustainable, it significantly enhanced community economic growth and reduces poverty.
“Women and children who often spend hours everyday searching for water which inhibits women from working to generate livelihood as well as reducing children’s time for education can start using their time for productive ventures, as clean, portable and drinkable water is now within their reach.
“We are in governance to see to such challenges of the people of Osun State and proffer solutions. This was our promise during our electioneering campaign and for us, we speak from the heart and we demonstrate in actions. We stand by our promises without unnecessary propaganda.”
At the event, the HLA Irepodun Local government, Mrs Toyin Eye lauded the state government for the good work.
Also, the CPMC Chairman, Chief Afisu appreciated his excellency, Ademola Adeleke for the laudable projects and promised to ensure proper use and maintenance of the water.
Also present were executive of the Ilobu-Asake Development Union led by its Vice President, Mr Musa Taofeek, Barr. Kolapo Alimi, Hon. Kamorudeen Ajisafe, among others.
