Newly renovated school 

Students and teachers of Dagbolu Community Primary School, Olorunda local government area is Osun were full of jubilations as Governor Ademola Adeleke has commissioned newly reconstructed blocks of classrooms in their school.

Also commissioned on Wednesday are micro projects under the Osun COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus DLI 1.4.

Represented at the commisioning by his Deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi on Wednesday in Adeleke said the commissioning was one of many important interventions to come.

According to Adewusi, “positive classroom environment will always motivate students to learn, remove negative emotions such as stress and other things that impedes teaching and learning”.

“Within a duration of one hundred days, in spite of huge challenges inherited- unpaid pension and gratuity, half salary saga, gigantic projects at verge of exit from governance and a host of others exhibited by the former administration”.

“I appreciate the residents for being responsive to many of government initiatives, allow them to benefit from State largesse’s, especially the rehabilitated 2 blocks of 8 classroom, fence and gate house, playing arena, borehole water with reticulation and VIP toilets being enjoyed by Dagbolu Community to stimulate pupils mental ability and aid retentive learning”.

He implored the community and the school authority to ensure adequate maintenance and sustainability of the projects such that generations yet unborn will benefit from them.

He also appreciated World Bank for coming to the aid of Osun State through the Community and Social Development Agency.

Earlier in her address, the General Manager of Osun CSDA, Aderonke Funmi Abokede, appreciated the Government for initiative to improve the facilities of Community Primary School, Dagbolu through Osun State Community and Social Developme Agency (OSUN CSDA) under the Osun COVID 19- Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus Program (Os CARES), a World Bank intervention programme.

She stated that the micro projects commissioned by the Governor today were; Constructed fence, motorized borehole, newly constructed ventilated improved lit, playing arena, rehabilitated 2 blocks of 8 classrooms that will provide a good learning environment for the students.

Abokede said, “Adeleke is committed and dedicated to the improvement of basic economic and social conditions of the communities in Osun State. Indeed, our Governor is walking his talk on his 5 Point Development Agenda to ensure that electoral promises are translated into needed social amenities and development through Osun State Community and Social Development Agency (Osun CSDA) under the Osun COVID 19- Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus Program (Osun CARES), a World Bank intervention Programme”, she acknowledged.

Speaking on the purpose of the agency, she said “Osun CSDA is the agency that make use of community Driven Development (CDD). bottom-up approach and primarily finance Micro projects initiated by communities”.

“It is therefore expected that you will take care and ensure maintenance of the school buildings, furniture and equipment so that these facilities can serve the community for years to come. Let the generation yet unborn benefit from the investment we have made together”, she implored.

” In addition to providing a conducive environment for the students, the Governor has also assigned security agencies to dispatch officers to the school areas to protect the children during and after school hours”, she reiterated.

In an interview, the Head Mistress of the School, Mrs Monisola Blessing Ojo, expressed appreciation of the school management and the school to the Osun CSDA and the government.

She said, “We really commend His Excellency for the good work he has done, he has helped solved a great challenge with the renovation of the school premises in order for it to be conducive for students..

“The school used to be an open field for motorcyclists, who don’t care about the safety of the students, and just drive in anytime during the school hours, and make the environment dirty during weekends before the week begins, with the new fence and gate and securities around, the school will be a safe place for the students”.
