Following its inauguration on Tuesday, the Second Niger Bridge was renamed after President Muhammadu Buhari.
Bashir Ahmad, the President’s Special Assistant on Digital Communications, announced this via his Twitter handle, @BashirAhmaad.
“Ladies and gentlemen, the MUHAMMADU BUHARI BRIGE (sic) is now official.”
“BREAKING: The Second Niger Bridge is to be officially called/known as MUHAMMADU BUHARI SECOND NIGER BRIDGE,” he wrote.
Tolu Ogunlesi, Special Assistant to the President on Digital and New Media, also confirmed the renaming of the bridge after Buhari via his Twitter handle, @toluogunlesi.
He did, however, state that the renaming would be subject to approval by the South East governors and other stakeholders.
“It is now officially known, with the approval of the SE Governors and other stakeholders, as the Muhammadu Buhari Bridge (MMB),” he tweeted.
