…Advises Tinubu on youth empowerment
The Olowu of Kuta, Oba Hammed Adekunle Makama Oyelude, CON, has said that one of the biggest achievements of Former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration was its ability to get nation’s military empowered to conquer several security challenges that faced the country when he took over.
The monarch stated this during an exclusive interview with newsmen at his Palace on Sunday.
Oba Oyelude, who was conferred with the title of Commander of Order of Niger, said the Nigeria’s Military Capacity got better ratings across the globe as a result of the investments by the Buhari’s administration.
“President Muhammadu Buhari tried in the best way he could to deliver to Nigerians, I would say one of his greatest accomplishments was empowering the Military to fight the insurgencies and insecurity in the country.
“Now, unlike when he came to power in 2015, no single territory is under the control of the Boko Haram. That is as a result of the military decisiveness in dealing with the insurgency and terrorists. Thr military was provided with enough empowerment.”
Advising the new administration of President Bola Tinubu, the Monarch called on the federal government to empower its youthful population as “idle hand is devil’s workshop “.
Oba Oyelude said, “In order to fight the insecurity in the Country, the Federal Government must empower the youths. The insurgents and terrorist don’t recruit from heaven. They recruit from our jobless youthful population.
“Federal Government should provide social security, if you don’t have a good job, Government should provide a means of giving stipends until when you get a good job. That’s what they benefit abroad. That’s why most of the able-bodied youths are going abroad in droves. They enjoy social investments in those areas.”
The Monarch also used the avenue to congratulate the 16th President of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, he also reiterated that Asiwaju was a goal getter, stating that he believes the President will fulfill his campaign promises to Nigerians.
“President Tinubu is a goal getter. He’s mentally equipped for the job, he has the knack of sighting brilliant brains. He should look for these people so they can help him deliver on his mandate”.
“Empowerment of the youths should be one of the sector. Tinubu should provide first, real pragmatic youths empowerment that will have direct bearing on the beneficiaries.
“And I strongly believe that Asiwaju’s administration can provide the youths with that kind of empowerment”, he emphasised.
He also listed the Media as one of the stakeholders who can stand against insecurity with the kind of reports they give to the society and the world.
“The media are saddled with the sole responsibility of informing the public the way it is, not hiding it and if you take for instance what is happening in other countries and their media as a matter of patriotism, the media won’t allow foreigners to see the other side of the country but when they want to project Nigeria they will show bad places, happenings around the country, which isn’t supposed to be so”, he averred.
Oba Oyelude said he believes that Nigeria will soon overcome its security challenges, urging all stakeholders including traditional rulers to come together for the task.
