Youths in Osun State under the aegis of National Youths Council of Nigeria, NYCN, have presented a 14-point agenda to Governor Ademola Adeleke.
The youths made the points known on Saturday after a town hall engagement organised by NYCN in Osogbo, the State capital.
According to the communique signed by Adetunji Ajala, the State chairman of the council, the points center on youth empowerment, entrepreneurship and engagement. The youths insisted that some positions in the yet-to-be constituted cabinet of Governor Adeleke should be ceded to young persons.
“The dialogue revealed that Osun State Government planned to engage 3000 youths in training, which will make provision for all beneficiaries’, tools to start-up businesses of their own. And
more importantly, Imole Youth Corps was announced to be a sustainable engagement.
“Exhibition where youth can come together to showcase different ideas through
skeletal presentation of products that will benefit our environment, state, and Nation. This will help the
government to know ways to finance the best idea which can further represent the state and Nigeria at large.
“In line with the inclusion of youth in development through connecting
dots, grass root sport development where youth will stand a chance to showcase their potential in physical health
games such as chess, scrabble, and football should be looked into as this will promote rural youth raw talents.”
The group called on relevant stakeholders to partner with the them in their bid to actualize some of their lofty ideas for the emancipation of youths.
Present at the stakeholders engagement were lawmaker-elect for Obokun State Constituency, Adewumi Adeyemi, Development expert, Bukola Idowu; lawmaker-elect for Odo-otin State Constituency, Hon. Wale Egbedun; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youths and Sports, Mrs Taiwo Oladunjoye and Chairman, Youth Advisory Council, Mr Ademola Sadipe.
No fewer than 200 youths drawn from different groups across 30 local government areas were present at the event.
