Former Governor of Osun State and immediate past Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has ascribed his political rise to the mentorship by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing the former Governor of Lagos as his benefactor.

Aregbesola made this known in Osogbo on Wednesday when he returned the State after completing his tenure as a Minister.

The former Governor, who was received by jubilating supporters, paid homage to the Ataoja of Osogbo land, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun at his Palace.

Speaking at the Freedom Park, Aregbesola told member of the All Progressives Congress that it’s time for reconciliation. He also called on whoever feels offended to forgive him.

He said, “We’re here for reconciliation. Whatever we did then, it’s not my sole achievement. Many us, including those calling themselves as leaders now, were parts of it. We did it together. So whatever we might have done wrong, we seek forgiveness.”

Speaking on his political relationship with Tinubu, Aregbesola said he was born in Ikare in Ondo State and stating that his political rise can only be attributed to Tinubu who he said, ‘discover’ him.

“Tinubu was the reason behind my rise. I was born in a rural of Ikare in Ondo State but I made it in Lagos through Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He was the one that discovered me.

“Asiwaju made me Commisioner for eight years and also told me to come to Osun to become Governor. So he deserves all praises for my rise.”

He said his supporters are ready for restructuring of the APC in the State.
