Professional footballer, Asisat Oshoala reveals her father’s reaction to her choice of goal celebration.
The Super Falcons’ forward noted that her dad is not happy with the fact that she took off her jersey after netting against Australia.
The Barcelona forward featured in the World Cup match between Nigeria and Australia and scored the winning goal that saw Nigeria climb to the top of the group table and defeat the World Cup co-host.
After scoring the last goal (in the match that ended 3-2 in favour of Nigeria), Oshoala took off her jersey in utmost excitement.
This style of celebration however spurred mixed reactions online with some condemning the act and others maintaining that there was nothing wrong with it.
In a recent development, Oshoala via her Instagram page disclosed that her father expressed resentment over her style of celebration.
She wrote:
“My dad is definitely not happy with my choice of celebration but then again, Life is a collection of MOMENTS.
Alhamdulilah #Grateful #Moments”
In a tweet, the influencer voiced his discontent, stating that he found the act of removing her jersey to reveal her body in celebration inappropriate for a woman.
He called on Asisat Oshoala to “fix up” and implied that such behaviour did not make sense.

Asisat Oshoala really need to fix up.”
