Managing Director of Peculiar Ultimate Concerns, Engr Olanrewaju Adeleke on Tuesday appeared before the Osun State House of Assembly to brief the House on the state of works on the ongoing reconstruction of Osogbo-Iwo road.

Adeleke, who was grilled by the lawmakers, told the House that the company has done a great work on the road, stating that what it has done is beyond the 21% reported by the Ministry of Works.

InsightMedia recalled that Adeleke last week honoured the invitation extended to it by the Parliament last week but was also asked to reappear along the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Engr Idowu Bello today.

While speaking at the plenary, Adeleke clarified that the commencement of project will be seven months in a couple of days as against nine months reported in some quarters.

“We will be seven months on the site in a couple of days. What we have done is beyond 21% but we understand that the ministry will not value some works done in some areas. Like the stone laying at Asamu and the work we are currently doing at Dele Yes Sir axis here in Osogbo. These are low hanging fruits that when completed in few weeks will increase the percentage completion.” Adeleke said.

Speaking on the alleged patching of the road, the MD said what has been are “preparatory” work needed for an existing road before the asphalt laying is done.

In his address, Engr Bello agreed with Adeleke that the ministry only valued the work done as 21%, stating that other areas highlighted by the company cannot be valued until the it’s asphalted.

The Speaker of the House, Hon. Adewale Egbedun described the invitation as part of oversight work of the House, stating that lawmakers will do their works diligently.

Egbedun thereby constituted an ad hoc committee to look thoroughly into the project. The Deputy Speaker, Akinyode Oyewusi, is to chair the committee.
