In commemoration of the 2023 International Youth Day, the Osun State Youth under the leadership of National Youth Council of Nigeria will be hosting youth across the state on need to build sustainable societies for Youths in the economy.

The Chairman of Osun State Chapter of NYCN, Ajala Adetunji David disclosed this through a press briefing on Tuesday in Osogbo, stating that the event will encourage transformation in the growth of a State.

He said,” to sensitizing the youths through Virtual discussion on the need for Green youth skills and what the youth must do in building sustainable societies.

Adding that, “Osun state have showed capacity and commitment to youth skills development in the state and has partnered and still partnering with relevant stakeholders in the development of the youth in the state”.

Similarly, The Chairman appreciated the Governor, Ademola Adeleke for his commitment and promises to the youth constituency in osun state and also implored him to speedily kick-start the Imole youth corps Empowerment programme in order to cushion the effects of unemployment and hunger in the State.

He said, ” We appeal to the State Government, Through the Commissioner of Youth Affairs, Hon Moshood Olagunju to speedily kick-start the Imole youth corps with sustainable implementation plan as this is believed will cushion the effect of unemployment and hunger that many youth are passing through”.

The Chairman also used the avenue to plead with the Presidency to ensure holistic implementation of youth agenda.

“We plead to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure holistic implementation of youth agenda and programmes he rolled out for the youth most especially at this crucial time that many of the citizens are confronted with inflation due to increase in premium motor spirit”.

He also encouraged the Federal Government and the State Government to take implementation of youth priorities needs seriously, by actively engaging relevant stakeholders in the youth space.

“In furtherance to Nation building, we encourage different youth groups to register through appropriate quarters to benefit from the intervention of government. We warn some element in the youth space who are spreading negative information about the youth constituency with political colouration to desist to allow peace and ensure the dividends of democracy get across to the youth”, he added.

Adetunji also used the avenue to appreciate the youth for peaceful co-existence in the state despite the religious differences.

He explained the theme of the years programme and how impactful it will be to the growth of the State.

“We will be having a Jumaat Prayer service and Church thanksgiving in the week long event. The grand finale of the 2023 international Youth day celebration will be spear head by the ministry of Youth affairs”, he concluded.

However, the 2023 International Youth Day will be coming up 12th August, Adetunji emphasised on the need to ensuring that youth have green skills for knowledge improvement, right values and attitude to support resource efficient society.
