The Forum For Oke-Ogun Progress (FFOP), a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing education in Nigeria, has unveiled the 3rd edition of its annual fully-funded undergraduate scholarships. This initiative aims to support indigent students hailing from the Oke-Ogun region and surrounding areas within Oyo State, aligning with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal Number Four – “Education for all.”

In a statement released on Friday by the Founder and President of FFOP, Mr. Saheed Adekunle Imran, it was revealed that these scholarships will be implemented in collaboration with the Pa. Kareem Alao Educational Support Scheme. The program is designed to offer an equal opportunity for indigent students to pursue tertiary education, irrespective of their financial backgrounds.

The scholarship program will be open to students attending government-owned universities across Nigeria, with a strong emphasis on academic excellence.

Applicants must meet specific criteria, including being an indigene of the Oke-Ogun Zone of Oyo State, demonstrating good character, and maintaining a minimum Second Class Upper Credit (3.5 CGPA).

Mr. Imran, who also serves as the Coordinator of the Scholarship Programme, explained the expansion of this year’s scholarship to encompass a broader range of competitive courses, spanning the fields of Arts, Sciences, and Commerce.

“Successful applicants will need to be enrolled in one of the following departments: Accounting, Economics, Law, Pharmacy, Medicine and Surgery, Computer Science, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical-Electronics Engineering, or any other Agricultural Courses,” Imran elaborated.

The application window for this prestigious scholarship will officially close on December 3, 2023. Additionally, suitable candidates must have achieved five distinctions in their WAEC/NECO results and secured admission into a government-owned university.

FFOP’s continued commitment to promoting education and providing opportunities for disadvantaged students underscores their dedication to achieving educational equity and fostering academic excellence in the region. This scholarship initiative serves as a beacon of hope for aspiring scholars within Oyo State’s Oke-Ogun Zone, enabling them to pursue their educational dreams regardless of their financial constraints.
