In a joint effort to bolster agricultural output and the overall growth of the sector, the Osun State Government, with support from the World Bank, through the Osun State Community Development Agency, OSCDA inaugurated some micro projects at the Ago Owu Farm settlement in Ayedaade LGA on Friday.

The infrastructure projects, which were executed under the Osun COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus, under DLI 1.4, were borehole projects.

Government officials, local farmers, and community residents attended the commissioning ceremony.

Alhaji Nurudeen Emiloju, representing the Commissioner for Rural Development and Community Affairs, praised the state government efforts.

He emphasized that the administration’s goal is to broaden the public’s access to socio-economic infrastructure and urged the community to ensure the boreholes’ longevity through proper maintenance.

Aderonke Funmi Abokede, the Osun Community Development Agency’s General Manager, highlighted the Governor’s commitment to enhancing the state residents’ living standards, as evidenced by the new boreholes in Ago Owu sites 1 and 2.

She articulated the benefits which include increased access to clean water, which will likely reduce waterborne diseases, improve sanitation and personal hygiene, and elevate the community’s overall socio-economic well-being.

Abokede encouraged the local farmers and residents to utilize and maintain the facilities responsibly.

Mr. Solomon Oladunsi Ojo, President of the Ago Owu Farm settlement, conveyed the community’s gratitude for the water projects, which according to him, will facilitate easier farming and enhance food security.

He pledged the community’s commitment to maintaining the facilities and appealed for additional developmental projects in the area.

The commissioning of these Project marks the end of the second round of micro projects unveiling by the Osun CSDA in the last four months and the organization once again reiterated its commitment to tackling local challenges.
