In a significant development for healthcare accessibility in Osun State, the Osun Health Insurance Agency (OHIS) has successfully completed the sensitization and enrollment of 1,500 women into the Osun Health Insurance scheme.
This collaborative effort of Osun State government with the World Bank, which commenced on Monday, August 29th, came to a conclusion on Thursday, marking a crucial step toward enhancing the well-being of women, especially those considered vulnerable and living in the grassroots across the state.
Dr. Adeniyi Oginni, the Executive Director of OSHIA, had on Monday the sustainability plan for this initiative beyond its initial one-year period, stating that Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration is highly committed to the well-being of people of Osun State.
He emphasized that program participants would have the opportunity to fully integrate into the health insurance scheme, ensuring continued access to essential healthcare services.
The great initiative of massive enrollment was birthed at Bode-Osi, Olaoluwa local government area of Osun, where the last batch of 500 persons were captured by the Agency.
In a statement of appreciation, Hon. Samuel Oluwapelumi, Chairman of Olaoluwa Local Government, thanked Governor Ademola Adeleke for selecting Olaoluwa as one of the three pilot locations for this program.
He remarked, “I appreciate Governor Adeleke for accepting Olaoluwa as one of the three pilot locations for this program anchored by OSHIA, which is aimed at supporting vulnerable people at the grassroots.”
The beneficiaries of this initiative expressed their profound gratitude to the State Government and the Osun Health Insurance Agency for enrolling them, enabling them to enjoy healthcare at zero cost.
They unanimously stated that there could be no better palliative measure than the provision of free healthcare services for an entire year, which would significantly improve their overall quality of life.
Osun Health Insurance Scheme has been rated among the best in the country and Dr Oginni has once again reiterated his commitment to improving the service delivery to enrolles.
