Jarrett Payton, the man behind the lens, managed to record the momentary glimpse of pop sensation Taylor Swift exiting with Travis Kelce, a renowned American football player for the Kansas City Chiefs. The duo was seen for the first time together on Sunday at the Chiefs’ game against the Chicago Bears. Intriguingly, Swift was seated alongside Kelce’s mother, Donna, in a private stadium box.
Payton, an ex-National Football League player himself, had set an ambition for the evening, sharing on X (formerly Twitter), “My goal is to find Taylor Swift before I leave Arrowhead”, referring to the stadium. True to his word, a few hours later, he sighted and videoed Swift with Kelce.
Swift enthusiasts were in for a treat as the brief clip quickly circulated, racking up over 14 million views on Payton’s X account. “I was at the right place at the right time last night,” Payton reflected during his chat with BBC, adding, “This has been the craziest 24 hours of my life.”
Throughout the game, videos highlighted Swift’s spirited engagements from within Kelce’s box – her animated interactions with his mother, cheering for his touchdown, and even dancing. Swift’s presence inevitably dominated online discussions.
Evidently, Swift’s appearance garnered immense curiosity from her fans, with many attempting to grasp the nuances of football to connect more with the singer’s newfound interest. Fans took to X with questions like, “Do you throw the ball or run with it?” and “What is a down?”, seeking clarity on football jargon.
