Human Rights and Public Interest Lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, has counseled entertainers on the need to engage attorneys in their dealings.
According to Effiong, anyone involved in the entertainment industry or any other line of work that does not have legal representation is taking a significant risk that could result in irrevocable damage.
He insisted his advice has undoubtedly forestalled gnashing of teeth for persons that adhered to it.
“As an upcoming artist, you should have and retain a lawyer as an integral part of your career.
“If you’re into entertainment or any business for that matter, and you do not have a lawyer, you’re taking a huge risk that may cost you irreparable loss.
“This advice has saved lives,” he said.
Effiong’s admonition came shortly after the death of singer Ilerioluwa Olademeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, on Tuesday at 27.
Besides the many controversies surrounding his death, clips of relatives allegedly threatening to take over the deceased’s properties from his wife emerged online.
In one of the recordings taken at Mohbad’s grave site in Ikorodu, several family members can be heard threatening to seize possession of the singer’s property if his wife approached the area.
Social media users were outraged by the clip as many condemned the men for plotting to take Mohbad’s acquisition from his partner and their son.
