In a significant offensive operation, troops from the Nigerian Army, working with Hybrid Force, successfully neutralized three individuals linked to Boko Haram in the Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State this Thursday.

Brig. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, informed the public on Friday that aside from the three neutralized suspects, the military detained five individuals supplying logistics to the terrorists, confiscating significant quantities of foodstuffs and N3,186,000 in cash.

The detailed report indicated, “On 7 September 2023, joint forces from the 192 Battalion and 26 Task Force Brigade Garrison, collaborating with Hybrid Force, embarked on an operation across the Gobara, Ambaga, and Madachi regions in Borno State. This led to the confiscation of an AK-47 rifle, a Beretta pistol, and various rounds of ammunition.”

Furthermore, “During a stop-and-search procedure on the Biu-Maiduguri Road, troops from the 231 Battalion and 331 Artillery Regiment intercepted five Boko Haram suppliers. Recovered were two vehicles loaded with food commodities and a sum of N3,186,000. These suspects are now assisting with ongoing investigations.”

Additionally, in a combined operation, the army, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and Tantita operatives decimated six unauthorized oil camps in the Imo and Delta states.

Maj. Gen. Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, emphasized the military’s unwavering commitment to capturing backers and affiliates of criminal gangs. He warned that these collaborators had chosen a perilous path, implying serious consequences for their actions.

The hoodlums were killed during offensive operations conducted on Thursday.

A statement by the Director, Army Public Relations, Brig. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, on Friday, noted that the troops also arrested five terrorists’ logistic suppliers with foodstuffs and money.

The statement read, “In a separate sustained operation to rid the North East of terrorism and insurgency, combined troops of 192 Battalion and 26 Task Force Brigade Garrison in conjunction with Hybrid Force, on Thursday, 7 September, 2023, conducted offensive operations within the general areas of Gobara, Ambaga and Madachi in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

“During the operations, troops neutralised three Boko Haram Terrorists and recovered one AK-47 rifle, one Beretta pistol, 17 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 4 rounds of 9 mm ammunition and a Dane gun.

“Similarly, combined troops of 231 Battalion and 331 Artillery Regiment, while mounting a stop and search operation along Biu-Maiduguri Road intercepted five BHT logistics suppliers and recovered two vehicles conveying 20 bags of maize, 11 bags of soybeans, 11 bags of biscuits, 14 bags of rice, 46 bags of corn flours and the sum of N3,186,000 only. Suspects are currently in custody helping with further investigation. “

He said troops in collaboration with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and Tantita operatives raided and destroyed six illegal oil camps in Imo and Delta states.

Meanwhile, the military high command has intensified efforts to apprehend sponsors and supporters of bandits and terrorists in the country.

The Director, Defence Media Operations, Defence Headquarters Maj. Gen. Edward Buba, said sponsors and collaborators of the criminal groups had “picked the wrong side”.

Speaking with our correspondent on Friday, he noted that they were aiding and abetting the enemies with their actions.

He vowed that the fate of the criminals also awaited them.
