Spanish giants Barcelona have, on Friday evening, announced the departures of two members of the club’s first-team squad.

It is of course the subject of arrivals which has taken its place centre stage in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital across the day to date.

This comes after the Barca brass pushed remarkable loan deals for one, but two players over the line.

Set to line out for Xavi Hernandez’s side over the course of the season ahead are both Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix, and Manchester City star Joao Cancelo.

As alluded to above, though, whilst key members of the transfer team at the Camp Nou were hard at work with regards to incomings, others were doing similar behind the scenes, in a bid to trim some of the excess fat from the Blaugrana’s ranks.

And, ahead of the Spanish transfer window slamming shut until January, this is precisely what they managed.

As confirmed in a pair of official statements across the website and social media platforms of the La Liga champions, two members of Xavi’s squad secured departures prior to tonight’s deadline.

First out was defender Eric Garcia, who has linked up with Girona on a season-long loan.

And following Garcia out the door, somewhat surprisingly, was highly-regarded young winger Ez Abde, who has taken his talents to another La Liga rival, in Real Betis.

Barcelona, for their part, have secured a €7.5 million fee for Abde, in a deal also featuring both a sell-on and buyback clause
