Hon. Ajibade Sikiru Oluwatoyin, the Chairman of Irepodun Local Government, issued a heartfelt plea urging peace amid land disputes in the towns of Ilobu and Ifon Osun. The message was not merely from an official position but rather from a place of deep concern for the closely-knit communities.

Oluwatoyin celebrated the towns’ rich heritage, marked by tradition, camaraderie, and shared dreams. He commended the prompt intervention of Senator Ademola Adeleke, the Governor of Osun State, in working towards a resolution. The Chairman also acknowledged the invaluable efforts of security agencies in maintaining peace, the Olobu’s Palace, the Ilobu Development Union, IDU, the Osun State House of Assembly, and various other bodies and chiefs in Ifon Osun.

Emphasizing the deep-rooted connections binding Ilobu and Ifon, Oluwatoyin highlighted the intertwined histories and customs that have held both towns together through various phases of life. The recent cease-fire agreement, he mentioned, serves not just as a formal document but as a beacon of hope for better days ahead. He stressed the importance of respecting the pact, saying, “all concerned parties should stop toying with the lives of common people.”

The Chairman urged individuals spreading misinformation and instigating fears on social media platforms to cease such activities. Instead, he called for a collective effort to promote peace and unity, pointing out that if faced with an external threat, both communities would undoubtedly unite in defense.

Oluwatoyin concluded by urging both communities to use this pivotal moment as an opportunity to build a brighter, harmonious future.

He expressed his hope for enduring peace and prosperity in both Ilobu and Ifon.
