At least 20 persons were injured following a tanker explosion at a filling station in the Rigasa area of Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Wednesday.
The victims who sustained varying degrees of injuries from the incident include five firefighters, men of the Kaduna State Vigilante Service, and passersby.
The fire service personnel are currently receiving treatment at the Barau Dikko Specialist Hospital, Kaduna, according to the State Director of Fire Service, Mr. Paul Aboi, on Thursday.
He explained that the tanker was offloading petrol when the incident happened on Wednesday.
He blamed the incident on negligence on the part of the filing station, noting that the offloading of petrol shouldn’t have been done in the afternoon.
He cautioned petrol owners against endangering their lives by offloading the commodity at the appropriate time (evening). Punch
