A Human Rights and Charity Organization, “Save the Poor and Needy Charity Initiative” (SPANCI) on Monday, October 9, said the it was not satisfied with the press release of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, over the death of hip-hop star, Ilerioluwa Aloba a.k.a. Mohbad without the autopsy results.
SPANCI said this could raise suspicion on the case which has now become a global issue, saying not only Nigerians are waiting for the outcome of the case but also international communities.
A statement by SPANCI president, Bello Ezekiel, stated that the Lagos CP would have waited for the autopsy results since he got a court order to detain the suspects for 21 days within which the autopsy results would have been released.
According to Ezekiel, the action of the Police boss has called for questions which his organisation demand answers from the police.
He said: “Is Lagos CP under any pressure or instructions to do so and from who is such order? why did Lagos CP not wait for autopsy results before making a press statement? is the Statement not decisive, diversionary and concluding about the cause of mohbad’s death? What is now the essence of autopsy results when police already told us how mohbad died? Does investigative power of police represent the decision of the court?”
“Did police investigate the allegation of primeboy on the wife based on principle of fair hearing and justice? The hospital said he was brought in dead what of the man who claimed in a viral video that he saw mohbad walked in to the hospital by himself and even snapped with him but was shocked at the later occurrence? I think there are still needed investigation if justice will be done.”
“We are of the opinion that people are losing hope and already doubting if justice can still be done because of the influence of the suspects and this act of prehemption can lead to pervertion, prevention, obstruction and defeat of cause of justice.”
He however commended the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun for his credibility and professionalism towards investigating mysteries relating to mohbad’s death.
