Members of Lions Clubs International District 404B2 Nigeria are set to commemorate the 2023 World Sight Day coming up on Thursday 12th of October, 2023 with series of activities geared towards fighting the scourge of blindness and other related eye diseases in our environment.
In a statement jointly signed by Lion Oluomo Sunday Akere MJF NLCF and Lion Bosede Moradeke Ande as Chairperson of the committees in charge, the association will be led by the District Governor Lion Prof Dayo Fagbohun PMJF NLCF supported by other members from over eighty (80) clubs in the District.
The statement reads: “Two major activities have been scheduled to mark this Annual World Sight Day coming up on Thursday 12th of October, 2023 worldwide. On Friday 13th of October, the association will organize the Sight Preservation Awareness and Action Program where people with complaints about their eyes will be screened at the Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF) Eye Treatment Center, General Hospital, Asubiaro, Osogbo.
:The screening/treatment which will be free of charge will involve blood pressure test, distribution of Eye glasses, eye treatment drugs, health talk and carttarh surgery for a select few.
“On Saturday 14th of October, 2023, there will be the White Cane Safety Day activity. The program will start from Jolayemi junction, Odi Olowo, Osogbo with a sensitization walk by members of the association and the eye disabled members of the public and representatives of their association.
The walk will end at the LCIF Eye Center, General Hospital, Asubiaro where foldable White Cane will be distributed free of charge to people with eye disability. The two programs will start at exactly 10.00am on each day and it will be on a first come, first serve basis”, the statement ended.
