This year’s highly anticipated ODUN ITAGE Festival is right around the corner, and with the theme “LIFE IS A STAGE YES OR NO” (or “ITAGE LAYE, BEENI ABI BEEKO”), it promises to be an event that bridges the rich tradition of Nigeria with contemporary interpretations of stage performances.

Esteemed host, Olaide Alafe, an ace broadcaster, veteran filmmaker, and prolific scriptwriter known for films such as “Omije oju meta,” “Ajekunrin,” and “Aje niwa,” will steer the event. Alafe’s impressive credentials, including co-writing “Oluwo Agbaye” and being the founder and current chairman of TAMPAN in Ede East local government, ensure that the festival is in capable hands.

The festival is set to feature prominent chieftaincy installations, recognizing key personalities that have significantly impacted the cultural and artistic landscape of the region. The final list of chieftains includes revered figures such as Alh. Waheed Olatunji, who will be honored as BALÓGUN ITAGE, and Olori Shakirat Oyelade, named YEYELUWA ITAGE.

In addition to the chieftaincy ceremonies, the festival will also host an award presentation, shedding light on those who have uplifted the art form and contributed tirelessly to the cultural realm.

But what is a festival without music? Lively performances are expected from musicians like Alayeluwa Sule Alao Malaika, Alh isa Alabi Miirinda, and Ife Araye, ensuring that attendees will be swaying to captivating rhythms all through the event.

With such a rich blend of tradition, art, music, and recognition, ODUN ITAGE 2023 promises to be a testament to the saying “Life is a Stage,” challenging attendees to reflect on the roles they play in the grand theatre of life.
