Senator Lere Oyewumi, representing Osun West Senatorial District, has undertaken a significant poverty-alleviation and empowerment initiative, providing support to various groups in his district.
The beneficiaries include women, traders, youths, farmers, and artisans, spanning across the 10 local governments in the district. The empowerment event, held in Ikire on Friday, received the distribution of 120 motorcycles, numerous bags of fertilizer, and a cash sum of 25 million naira.
Stakeholders from across the State, farmers, and residents of Ikire and neighboring areas attended the event, demonstrating the widespread impact of Senator Lere Oyewumi’s initiative.
Senator Oyewumi highlighted the pressing issue of food insecurity in the country and emphasized the importance of fertilizer as a fundamental necessity for farmers.
He expressed his commitment to making this empowerment program an annual initiative, fulfilling a promise made during his campaign.
Hon. Sunday Bisi, the State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, expressed gratitude to Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, for creating a conducive environment for such initiatives.
He commended Senator Lere Oyewumi, describing the empowerment program as unprecedented in the history of Osun State.
