The Osun State Chapter of the Albinism Association Of Nigeria (AAN) has appealed for re-energized efforts especially by Osun State Government, civil society and the community of persons with disabilities in Osun State.

This call was made by Comrade Aghanti, Sunday Smith, Chairman of AAN Osun State Chapter during the commemoration of the 2023 International Disability Day. Adding that these can be achieved through improved actions, accessibility and cooperation.

In the Statement signed by Smith, he disclosed that Persons Living with Albinism are historically been marginalized and have often been amongst those left furthest behind.

“There couldn’t have been a better time to join forces and step-up action in achieving the SDGs for Persons With Albinism (PWAs) especially in Osun State”, he added.

“The paradigm shift in commitment, financing, solidarity and action is highly significant and essential to this, is the inclusion of the needs, priorities and voices of the community of persons with albinism in all their diversity”, he stated.

“Similarly, with the adoption of the Political Declaration of the recent SDG Summit, world leaders have recommitted themselves to achieving sustainable development and shared prosperity for all, by focusing on policies and actions that target the poorest and most vulnerable, including persons with albinism”, he concluded.
