In the final FIFA rankings for 2023, the Super Eagles concluded the year on a commendable note, securing the sixth position in Africa and standing at the 42nd spot globally, as per The PUNCH report. The Super Eagles showcased a noteworthy performance throughout the year, experiencing just one defeat while clinching four victories and managing three draws.

On the African continent, Morocco continued to assert their dominance, maintaining their top spot and securing the 13th position globally. Senegal, in the second position in Africa, also held steady at the 20th spot worldwide. Tunisia retained their third place in Africa, remaining at the 28th position globally. The top five African teams were completed by Algeria and Egypt, finishing the year at the 30th and 33rd positions globally, respectively.

In the global football landscape, the reigning world champions, Argentina, continued to lead the rankings following their 1-0 triumph over Brazil in the World Cup qualifier held last month. France secured the second position, with England, Belgium, and Brazil rounding up the top five.

The top 10 teams globally included Holland, Portugal, Spain, Italy, and Croatia, showcasing a dynamic and competitive football landscape. FIFA is set to unveil the next rankings on February 15, 2024, providing further insights into the shifting dynamics of international football.
