The Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke has called on public and private bodies to expand their support for the military.
Adeleke made this call on Monday during the 2024 2024 Armed Forces Day Celebration held in Osogbo, the State capital.
The also applauded the military for their dedicated services towards protecting the internal and external territorial integrity of the country.
He said ” Within the African context, Nigeria faces many challenges with conflicts in the Sahel and Sudanic regions. Our military is stretched thin with delicate responsibilities for internal and external protection of the fatherland. Despite economic woes, the military needs resources for operation and personnel care. It is almost a conditionality for the survival and preservation of the nation”.
He also commended the military leadership for the faithful implementation of the civil-military intervention programme.
He also recommed that the military leadership work with the community development agencies in each state in the implementation process. Adding that the collaboration will ensure the right location of projects and synergy with local development plans. He also advised that a presentation by the military to the National Economic Council on the subject will deepen funding for the civil-military projects.
Adeleke also expressed utmost gratitude and to esteemed legionnaires and veterans and commended them for their dedicated service to our nation.
“Your sacrifices are deeply valued, and we want to assure you that your concerns, as outlined in your speeches, are being actively addressed. The Secretary to the State Government (SSG) will be overseeing the details”.
He concluded the speech by assuring them that as the Governor, he is committed to representing and championing their interests both on a national scale and in key strategic matters.
