Governor Ademola Adeleke has debunked rumours of shutting down the Osun Job Centre and of withholding 12 month salaries to civil staff.
This was contained in a press release issued by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, following a publication that alleged salaries of civil servants under the job centre had been owed for 12 months.
According to him, Governor Adeleke’s administration did not inherit the Osun Job centre, nor has any salary been withheld from civil servants.
He clarified that the centre had been tactically shut down by former Governor Oyetola on assumption of office in 2018, with the complex being allocated as an annexe to the Ministry of Information placate Bosun Oyintiloye, who by then was Special Adviser to Oyetola on Civic Engagement in the Ministry of Information and Civic Engagement.
Following this, as contained in the statement, “records showed that throughout the period 2018 to 2022, the said centre was not funded and at a point, the rented apartment became the campaign office for the former Governor.”
He pointed out that according to official records, those engaged at the said centre are contract staff who were engaged without compliance with public service regulations and who were mostly political activists.
The commissioner reiterated that on assumption of office, Governor Adeleke had focused attention on creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive and for job seekers to become employers of labour.
The statement reads in part, “The Oyetola administration used the Centre as annexure of Ministry of Information to placate Mr Oyintiloye, who by then was Special Adviser to Oyetola on Civic Engagement in the Ministry of Information and Civic Engagement. The place was a political campaign ground all through the tenure of the last administration.
“On assumption of office, Governor Adeleke had focused attention on creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive and for job seekers to become employers of labour.
“Governor Ademola Adeleke is focused on increasing economic opportunities, supporting small businesses and easing the business environment for job seekers to become employers of labour.”
