It was a sloppy start for the Super Eagles of Nigeria at the ongoing African Cup of Nations as they were held to a draw by the lowly rated Equatorial Guinea in their opening match.
The Guinea were in front through a goal by Ivan Edu in the 36th minute before Victor Osimhen responded two minutes later.
Super Eagles laboured hard but fruitless in the second half as the Guinea continued their giant-killing in major tournaments. The only clear was missed by Osimhen.
It’s the second time in a row that the Jose Paseiro team failed to beat the Equatorial Guinea as they were defeated in Abuja in March.
The result puts a very big question mark on the tactics of the Portuguese gaffer and the ability of the Super Eagles to get anything in this tournament.
Nigeria faces the host country, Cote D’Ivoire in the second group game on Thursday.
