The Osun Digital Marketing Institute is making commitments to contribute a quota in bridging the gap in knowledge and acquiring technological skills within the state, in a bid to bring Osun into the limelight of the Nigerian tech sector.

Founder of the institute, Lukman Adeoti, who revealed these intentions at the official launch of the digital marketing institute, held today in Osogbo, noted that building digital marketing skills will go a long way in solving the unemployment issues among Osun graduates, as well as provide the working class, government parastatals, and local businesses with sufficient digital skills to boost their economic and educational efforts.

In his words, “In the last 5 years, we noticed that the unemployment rate in Osun state has increased drastically. As we speak today it is a little bit shy of 40% of the employment rate. That tells us that we need to put our youth to work. And how can we put our youth to work? By getting them skilled.

“Believe me, we have many graduate or youths out there, but the question is, are they really employable?

“To tackle that challenge, we decided to establish an institute that can prepare our youth for the global market.”

He said the institute aimed at filling the void in the tech world and focus on training the youths more on digital marketing.

According to him, the institute will be offering courses bordering on digital marketing ranging from content creation, social media marketing, affiliate marketing, paid advertising, Pay-per-click, and more, with physical training sessions taking 70% over virtual training sessions,  to ensure effectiveness.

Adeoti added that as part of the kick-off, the institute will be offering scholarship opportunities to 50 Osogbo residents, willing to take the course through the free-trial period of 1 month.

He however hinted that the institute’s training will not be limited to only Osun residents, but will as well accommodate others interested from other states.

Speaking further at the event, the Head of Communications of the institute, Gbenga Olola, said such innovations were geared towards setting Osun state visible on the tech map , considering how unnoticed the state has been so far.
