It was an array of activities on Saturday at Baptist High School, Iree, Boripe local government area of Osun State as members of Alumni Association of the school stormed the premises for their 7th Annual General Meeting/Convention.

As part of the event, the leadership of the global alumni association flagged off concrete construction of the internal roads within the school in order to give the environment facelift.

The 1983 set of the school also commissioned newly renovated block of classrooms, while the Europe chapter inaugurated the newly rehabilitated hall for the use of the students.

The event, which was held at the school compound on Saturday in Iree, had in attendance members of the Alumni Association.

Speaking to the newsmen, the Global President of Association, Olaniyi Ibiyemi advised other Alumni of other schools to try and give back to the Alma Mater in which they graduated from.

“My advice to other Alumni of other schools to give back to the school that made them. This is the only thing they can do, to emulate us in giving back to the school”, he advised.

While listing the projects that was Commissioned, Ibiyemi said “We commissioned two projects and there was a ground breaking of our pet project for the second term. The Concrete road construction, internal road construction inside the school, after we commissioned a block of flats by 1983 sets and also a hall by our colleagues in the Europe”.

He also added that “Our Annual General meeting is taking place today and we are also marking the 65th anniversary of the school”.

The vice-president of the Alumni Association, Alhaji Tunde Lawal, also reiterated full support and cooperation to the President.

Speaking on the sustainability plan of the projects, Lawal said “we have so many sustainable programmes, we have micro empowerment for the entire Alumni for whoever is vulnerable among us. Hospital programmes are also included, which are too numerous to mention”, he stated.

The General Secretary of the Association, Bode Olasinde said “the association has commissioned a lot of projects and its an ongoing thing, in the previous year we did perimeter fencing and currently we are embarking on making all the internal roads in the school concrete”.

He added the objective was to give the school the best educational facilities. He said “Most of our colleagues have shown interest in revamping the school, so there’s no limit to what we can do with the help of God”.

The Principal of the School, who also happens to be a member of the 1983 Alumni, Mrs Yetunde Abimbola commended the Alumni for a great job in the school while advising them to continue to do good things in the Alma Mater.

The AGM also provided avenue for old students to reunite, wine and dine together as they refresh the past memories.
