It’s often said that to test the real nature of any man, give him power. One of the easiest means to unravel the authentic essence of an individual is by endowing them with authority, capacity or influence. A person’s character becomes more evident when entrusted with power, as their decisions and actions under such circumstances reveal aspects of their true nature, whether integrity, responsibility or tendencies toward altruism or self-interest.
Power and leadership are distinct concepts, though they may intersect based on individual perspective or political dynamics. One of the major factors that shape the lives of the future generations in any society is the quality and the life-style of leadership.
The essence of leadership is to provide direction for growth and development as well as to mentor others.
Is that what we have in Osun State?
While it is not my intention to dwell on the meaning and purpose of power and leadership, it should be emphasized that leaders are emplaced to chart a direction and programme of growth and development for the people they represent.
Discovering that individuals elected and appointed to represent the masses not only manipulate the interests of the people for their benefit but also intentionally inflict hardship on the common populace is profoundly disheartening
Beyond the numerous atrocities attributed to a specific Special Adviser to Governor Ademola Adeleke who collected money meant to support Mohbad street mourning in osogbo and refused to use it for what is meant for .Not only that , such personalities have been misrepresenting the performing Governor Ademola Adeleke in different capacity . Many atrocities from impersonation, flagging non existence organisations within the state and causing confusion in the youth constituency is the identity of this person .
Information also has it that this person has been accused of demanding money from the state’s youths as a precondition for receiving assistance.
Such conduct prompts a critical question: is this act appropriately labeled as “bribery” or “extortion”? The gravity of this situation raises concerns about the integrity and ethics of those entrusted with the responsibility of serving the public.
Today, a disheartening reality unfolds, as many comrades associated with these movements seem to view them primarily as avenues for personal gain even under the nose of the Commissioner for Youth Affairs in Osun State .
Information has it that the affairs of the youth in the state have seemingly transformed into instruments of self-enrichment, extending preferential treatment to immediate family members and friends and autocratic rule. This deviation from the initial mission has led to a distorted perception of governance, leadership, and politics, turning the voices that were meant to advocate for the masses into mere echoes of personal interests.
We are also worried to see a fall out in the youth constituency as imposition , ego and lack of respect for the rules and guided principles was neglected .
Submissively, I want to urge the Commissioner for Youth Affairs- Hon. Moshood Olalekan, Chairman of National Youth Council of Nigeria – Com Adetunji Ajala, and other Leadership of Youths within the states to work Hand-in-Hand and take the Youth to where it belongs.
We will further investigate and reveal the names of those masquerading in our second release .
Osun Youths deserve leadership!
