Students of Oroki High School in Osogbo have emerged as the winners of the maiden edition of Noah Olawuwo Oderinu Foundation Inter-Secondary School Debate Competition.

The final of the contest, which was held in Osogbo on Saturday, has six schools from the three senatorial districts.

Announcing the winner after the contest, a programme officer with the foundation, Femi Badmus said students of Our Lady’s Girls High School, Modakeke, came second while Iwo Grammar School came third.

Oroki High School went home with N100,000; Our Lady’s Girls High School took N75,000 and third-placed Iwo Grammar School went home with N50,000.

Speaking at the programme, the royal guest at the event, Oba Adekunle Makama Oyelude commended the teachers for the oratory prowess and brilliance of the students.

“I thank you so much the educators, I didn’t know our public secondary schools are still performing well like this. I appreciate the participants and I like to your display of oratory prowess.” Oba Oyelude said.

Meanwhile Afolabi Mariam of Our Lady’s Girls High School was announced as the best speaker.
