Speaks on appointment of Aree, others
A pan socio-political group, Dee Osun Monitors has lamented on the response of the Osun Government to the affected people in Ifon and Ilobu communities.
This was stated in a press statement signed by the Group on Wednesday, adding that the people’s disappointment as regards perceived poor attitudes and inefficient approach of the Governor in recent time.
The statement reads: “We want to categorically declare that response from the Osun State Government to the affected people in Ifon and Ilobu communities after a lot of people have been injured, killed and homeless is not expected from any government that is concerned with welfare of her people, especially at this time of economic hardship.
“Apart from from the official visitations that were sent to the people of Ilobu and Ifon-Osun; neither the State Government nor the Local Government has done anything to support the affected people who have been suffering since then till now.
“We reliably gathered verifiable information that properties worth over (N150m) One Hundred and Fifty Millions Naira, and about 10 people lost their lives, while many were injured. It is disgusting that main issues are yet to be resolved while the Osun State Government has just lifted the imposed curfew after subjecting the people in the area to daily extortion.
“It is sad that over 200 hundred people were seriously affected in the affected communities and some that have lost their sources of livelihood are now a security risk to the society while the government has not respond to render any material or financial support for the affected people.
However, the Group called on Governor Adeleke to make necessary amendments in order to govern the State in the way it is supposed to the govern and not be too involved in politics while leaving governance behind.
The group also implored Adeleke on the promises made on the financial autonomy of the Local Government.
The Group also demand to know how the Governor want to address the security challenge and the strategies on proactive measures to curb insecurity in the State, while adding that the government should address the people on the efforts made to combat food shortages and hunger.
