The Kelebe-Omu Land Owners Association has said it’s ready to file a contempt of the court suit against the Nigeria Army over what it described as a continued “trespass”.
Counsel to the Association, Mr Faruq Muhammed made this known on Thursday when the soldier suspected to be from Engineering Command in Ede stormed the land to stop the plan clearing of the land.
Our correspondent who witnessed the scene said as the bulldozer was about to commence the clearing, some uniform men stormed the areas to stop the process.
All efforts to tell them that they were implementing a court judgement failed as they insisted that the work must stop immediately.
Reacting to the development, Muhammed described the conduct of the military men as illegal and a contempt of the court, stating that he will soon approach the court to file a contempt against the Army.
“We’re here to implement the judgement of the Court on this matter. Only for the Army officers to storm here and stop u. This act is illegal and we shall be filing a contempt of the court against them.”
InsightMedia recalled that the Osun State High Court had in January 2023 declared that the Army should vacate the land.
Counsel to the Association also revealed that no appeal has been filed on judgement as the time has elapsed.
