The Osun State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress and People’s Democratic Party have traded words over security threats raised by the Governor Senator Ademola Adeleke.

It can be recalled that on Tuesday, the State Governor, Sen Ademola Adeleke raised alarm over the threat to peace and security within the state school system and rural farm communities while summoning a meeting of the State security council and announcing major security reforms.

In reaction to the Governor’s call, the opposition party, in the statement signed by the Osun APC chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal accused the Governor of raising a false panic over the security in the State.

Lawal said ” we are not politically inexperienced not to have an understanding that the Adeleke-invented security threat against the state is a ploy to shift their attention from discussing his ill-thought out N100 billion white elephant projects when hunger is working on four legs in all the streets in the nooks and crannies of the State.

“There is nothing wrong in a government being proactive on security issues but it is criminal and an express admission of failure for any government to use same as a weapon of deceit to confuse the governed.

“Sequel to this fabricated security threat alert by the Governor and his co-travellrrs who have been thinking for him upside down, it is important for the innocent and Peace loving people of the State to watch out for a likely government-sponsored security threat as a way of justifying their imminent threat”.

Reacting to these, the People’s Democratic Party condemned the State APC to deny reports that have been confirmed by all security agencies in the state.

In the statement signed by the Party Chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi stated that ” The resolution of the State security meeting was made public including a list of steps that state is to take to stop the threats from materialising, instead of commending the Governor for his foresight, the opposition has chosen to play bad.

The PDP chairman reinstated that “we are proud that the government is in full compliance with the procurement laws and other extant provisions in the implementation of its infra projects as we are preoccupied on enforcing a bidding process that produces companies that are lawfully complaint, presented lowest bid and demonstrated competency”, he said.
