Dr. Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe, the former Kwara Central Senator and newly appointed Leader of Kwara State Contingent for the upcoming 2024 Hajj Pilgrimage, has expressed that his appointment is a call to serve God and humanity.
In a statement released in Ilorin by his media aide, Bolaji Aladie, Oloriegbe acknowledged the responsibility and congratulatory messages that came with the appointment. He stated that he is embracing the new role as a sense of duty to serve the Muslim community and the people of Kwara State. This year, the erstwhile lawmaker will lead over three thousand Kwarans to the holy land of Makkah to perform the Hajj pilgrimage.
Oloriegbe emphasized that for Muslim faithfuls, going on the Hajj pilgrimage is a divine call that is beyond having the financial means. It is a spiritual journey that can only be performed by those who are called by Allah (SWT). He said he took on the role as an avenue to serve his creator and the people of his state. He added that it is also a statement that he is at peace with every political leader as far as Kwara State development is concerned.
Oloriegbe expressed gratitude for the trust reposed in him by the Kwara State Governor, H.E Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, to serve in this position. He promised to give the task his best effort and to work with all the board members and religious stakeholders to provide Kwarans with a memorable experience in their spiritual journey to the holy land.
Oloriegbe, however, called for support in prayers and advice from the people across various sectors towards smooth and efficient Hajj operation.
