The actor talked about the risks actors put themselves through to ensure they deliver entertainment to the audience.
Nollywood actor Junior Pope Odonwodo, popularly known as Jnr Pope, has died after drowning in a boat accident.
Though this reporter can’t independently verify this claim as of press time, multiple sources claimed he died on a movie set in Asaba, the Delta State capital, on the afternoon of Wednesday, April 10, 2024.
His death came a few hours after he shared a video of himself on his Instagram page, riding a wooden boat, apparently for a scene in the movie he was acting in.
“See me lamenting……The risk we take to entertain you ; crossing river 9ja yesterday with no life jacket…… Na wahoooooo …. Who does that ??,” Jnr Pope captioned the video.
The actor was pulled out of the water and rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead.
Chairman of the Delta State Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Emma Onyemeziem, confirmed to Vanguard that Jnr Pope’s remains had been deposited in the morgue.
A video circulating on social media showed the actor’s lifeless body lying on the ground alongside one other victim of the incident.
