Olatunji Damilola, a 22-year-old man associate of Olalekan Oyeyemi popularly known as Emir has been apprehended by the Osun State Police over armed robbery and unlawful possessions of firearms.
The police recovered 4 pump action guns, three cut to size barrel gun, one locally made pistol, one jack knife, ten cutlasses and thirty three live cartridges of ammunition during his arrest.
While speaking with the newsmen on Wednesday at the Police Headquarters in Osogbo, the Police PRO, SP Yemisi Opalola said the suspect was arrested along Balogun Agoro Junction Osogbo during a physical brawl with some individuals.
During interrogation, the suspect mentioned that he was one of Emir’s boys and it was Adigun Omoyalode that gave him the guns to hold on to.
He narrated, “I was in Balogun sitting where I saw someone beside me, he held me and he took my phone and asked me to open it and he checked through my WhatsApp, and saw a chat with me and Adigun Omoyalode, one of my street brothers, asking me to bring the guns with me.
“There was an incident in the neighbourhood one time, so in the night, when they said those guys were coming again, they told me to bring out the guns. I brought out the guns, so all the Voice notes and chats are on my WhatsApp, that was how I was caught”.
Meanwhile, Opalola reiterated that efforts are on to apprehend other suspect(s) in connection with the case as the suspect will be charge to court after the investigation.
The Police also advised the residents to report every strange movements and strange people and give credible information to the police officers around them, while cautioning them against jungle justice.
