It was a beautiful atmosphere full of fanfare on Saturday in Ilobu as the Olobu of Ilobu, Oba Asiru Olatoye Olaniyan marked the grand finale of his 50th coronation anniversary celebration with pageantry.
Guests from different parts of the country gathered at the St Paul’s Grammar School playing field to witness the golden jubilee celebration.
Speaking at the event, Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke who was represented by Commissioner for Political Affairs, Biyi Odunlade commended the monarch for bringing development to his community and his subjects.
“When a monarch has spent 50 years on the throne, it means he has not only ruled long but also ruled well. I want to thank the Olobu for bringing development to his community and his people.
“On behalf of the government of Osun State, we congratulate Baba Olobu for this milestone. It’s a great feat.”
Addressing the newsmen, President of Ilobu-Asake Development Union, Pastor Olufemi Salako said the reign of Oba Olaniyan has brought so much development to the community.
Salako said, “We thank God for the life of Kabiesi. If you know the landmark achievements his reign has brought to Ilobu in the last 50 years, you’ll see that the milestone is worth celebrating.
“During his time, Ilobu’s sons and daughters have risen to great positions in this country, both political and government positions and many reached the peak of their careers during this period.”
Oba Olaniyan also thanked God for his life and appreciated all guests present.
Earlier, the monarch has conferred chieftaincy titles on individuals. Among them are the southwest zonal vice chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, Kamorudeen Ajisafe, the ALGON Chairman, Sarafadeen Awotunde, among others.
