The management of Osun State University has debunked rumors insinuating incidents of kidnapping, sexual assault, or murder on campus, dismissing them as completely false, mischievous and without foundation.
In response to a viral audio on social media, the university’s Public Relations Officer, Ademola Adesoji, released a statement underscoring the robust security measures in place to protect students, staff, and visitors.
Adesoji reaffirmed the university’s commitment to safety, stating, “We assure all parents, staff, students, and stakeholders that we are taking all necessary measures to maintain security. There have been no reported cases of kidnapping, rape, or murder on university premises. While we understand that such rumors can cause concern, we want to emphasize that the safety and well-being of our university community are our top priorities. There is no case of robbery or banditry in our Osogbo Campus.
“Our security team is extensively trained and works in close collaboration with local law enforcement agencies, including the police, Amotekun, DSS, and civil defense forces,” said Adesoji.
“These security personnel regularly patrol the university campus, halls of residence, and surrounding areas to ensure a safe and secure environment.”
Adesoji also urged the university community to avoid spreading unverified information that could cause unnecessary panic. “We encourage everyone to remain calm and refrain from spreading false rumors. The university management is dedicated to maintaining a safe environment, and we are continuously enhancing our security measures.”
“If you have any concerns or information related to security, please contact our security team or the university administration directly,” concluded Adesoji.
Osun State University emphasizes that it remains a safe and secure place for all its members and will continue to work diligently to maintain this standard.
