As part of efforts towards improvement and quality service delivery, the Osun State Chapter of the National Association of Microfinance Banks has commenced a three-day workshop on Cybersecurity, anti-money laundering and anti-terrorism financing.

The workshop, which commences at the secretariat of the association in Osogbo on Thursday, will be handled by staff of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

While declaring the event open, the Chairman of Osun NAMB, Alhaji Tunde Lawal underscored the importance of the training to progress of the banks.

Lawal said, “Looking at the country generally, we all understand that corruption and insecurity are the greatest challenges. Everyone wants to make money but it must be done in legal ways. This is why we, the leadership of Microfinance Banks in Osun State, deemed it fit to write the Central Bank of Nigeria to allow some of their staff to come and train us.

“We believe that after this training, Osun State Microfinance Banks would have been equipped with requisite knowledge to avoid facing any sanctions.”

Lawal urged the participants to ensure they ask relevant questions and interact with the trainers in order to maximize the benefits of the workshop.

In his welcome address, the chairman of the training committee and General Secretary of NAMB, Alhaji Dauda Adebisi-Balogun welcomed the CBN staff to the secretariat of Osun NAMB, describing the edifice as first in Nigeria.

He said the Osun NAMB has been working hard to ensure no microfinance bank folds up in the State and that’s why the association engages in regular training of staff and directors.

Compliance and IT staff of banks are present for the three day training.
